Watermelon plays a key role in many Italian holidays and festivals, and it is commonplace to see street vendors selling slices throughout the summer.

During Assumption Day a watermelon feast is held in Venice to help “keep community ties.” In the Italian city of Villa Lagarina, legend has it that when a truckload of watermelon arrived in the 1920s, the townsfolk were astonished by the newfound fruit and placed them in the fountain at the centre of town.

QP LDN too has embraced the watermelon with the introduction of a new special starter combining the delicious light crisp taste of the freshest watermelon with delicate langoustine, creamy coconut and rich coffee.
